Round borosilicate glass - “Tempax”

Tempax circular sight glasses made of untempered borosilicate glass offer numerous technical advantages for industrial use. They are permanently designed for temperatures up to 450°C and can even withstand 500°C for short periods. Thanks to their low coefficient of thermal expansion of 3.3 x 10-⁶ K-¹ (at 20°C to 300°C), they remain stable even during rapid temperature changes and are not prone to stress cracking.

The material is highly resistant to many chemicals, especially acids and alkalis, with the exception of hydrofluoric acid and phosphoric acid at higher temperatures. The optical clarity of the glass is also an important advantage: with a transmittance of 92% (at 10 mm thickness and a wavelength of 550 nm), it enables a clear view of the monitored processes.

The thermal resistance of ΔT 100 K allows it to be used in applications where large temperature fluctuations occur.

Thanks to these properties, Tempax borosilicate glass is particularly suitable for use in process technology, the chemical industry, the food and pharmaceutical industries as well as in power plants and vacuum systems.
